Respect: Taekwondo students are introduced to the concept of respect from day one. The first thing that a new student is taught is the etiquette of bowing, standing at attention and addressing their dojo master properly. Over time, students will learn to have greater respect for their peers, seniors, instructors, flag and themselves.
Confidence:
By training in the martial arts, you know you will be able to handle anything that comes your way. Students are given new and increasingly challenging exercises and routines to master in order to reach the next level. By facing and conquering these challenges, students develop a greater self assurance and confidence that they will carry with them forever.
Self-Discipline:
Taekwondo emphasizes self-discipline and having control over your body and mind. Walking the path to black belt will help you to hone these skills, which will be useful for the rest of your life.
Self-Defense Skills:
It wouldn’t be martial arts if you weren’t learning self-defense. At every level, we teach valuable self-defense skills that can aid you for the rest of your life.
Physical Fitness:
Martial arts work both the body and mind, and if you’re looking for an activity that will encourage you or your children to be active, our program is a perfect choice. Martial arts are physically demanding in nature. In addition to the natural workout you’ll get from mastering taekwondo techniques, we also include physical conditioning in our classes.
Good Grades:
The practice of Taekwondo is proven to promote better focus, listening skills and self-control. These elements are essential in creating the skills and motivation needed to experience success in life, including better grades in school.
Quality Instruction:
We teach the forms, and we also have fun with drills and exercises designed to improve basic skills. Our students are well rounded and their abilities improve with each level. We work with each student personally to make sure that he or she is ready to move up to the next level.
Benefits for Special Needs Students:
Studies have shown that practicing martial arts is particularly beneficial for special needs students. The unique component of martial arts for children with special needs is the competition within themselves, not with others. Focus, concentration, balance, awareness, self regulation, reduced anxiety, and spatial awareness are just a few of the benefits your child will receive.
Counseling and Encouragement:
We help parents and students with whatever challenges they are facing including bullies, bad grades, anger issues and more. At Lee's Martial Arts Academy, students know that they have a mentor and friend on their side.
